Travel Rats

When people get married, some have babies right away, some buy houses, people like Angela & Fritz quit their jobs and travel the world for 12 months. I had the opportunity to photograph their Romanian/American wedding in Arlington, WA last year and at that time Angela was a contractor for Microsoft and Fritz was a manager at Microsoft. They've since dumped their furniture in storage, quit their jobs and turned into globetrotters! Rick Steve's couldn't hold a candle to their real-life experiences!

Their blog is peppered with stories of long walks, crazy money transfers, sickness, hot water or lack thereof! Fritz also takes amazing pictures. If you have a moment during this busy day, check out what these newlyweds are up to!

Laurie & Narada Fairbank! 07.28.07

Yay Mr. & Mrs. Fairbank!!!!
Through uncanny good luck Laurie and I were able to work together on her wedding this weekend! Originally I had her date booked, but due to a cancellation last year the date was reopened. Within 6 days of reopening the date Laurie found us and we clicked right away! Over the phone we immediately took care of logitistics and what do you know, things worked out in a jiff. Get this: originally her venue was booked, but through tremendous luck and another cancellation she was able to get her choice venue! It must have been fate, or something like that...Laurie is super lucky when it comes to getting it right for the wedding!

I'm delighted to post these snaps: it was a 'hang on by the seat of your pants' action-packed *gasp* its-so-beautiful-amazing wedding!

Bittersweet

This weekend ended on a bittersweet note, tons of beautiful moments & deliciously fun pictures & people to shoot with. However, it marks the closure of working with the most photographed couple of the year, Elizabeth & David. They sealed off months of planning their dream wedding in Cancun 07.04.07, with a country-style reception in Silverton, Oregon this past Saturday. I wish we could do it all over again! It was such a blast!!!









In the midst of traveling to Laguna Beach, Portland and then back home inside the last 4 days, I magnetized a nice cold/sinus infection thing that is destined to keep kleenex wedged in my nostrils for at least a week. Thankfully the sniffling fury can take hold because there are no weddings scheduled for this weekend!! It will be my first weekend free in months! It will also be the last free weekend until end of October.

Whip it up in your mind

I read an interesting quoteon Laura Novaks' blog. Its a quote from Jerry McGuire: "We are less ourselves than we were when we started this organization."

When things get too hectic, I hoarde my own projects. This makes no sense, I know! Realistically I'm hurting customers by not being the photographer they chose to invest in. I become less of what I am when I started this organization.

What's the dealio? In the not-too distant future, we're looking at outsourcing our entire office workflow. Email, calendar, booking, accounting, phone calls, even cleaning, its all going to be outsourced. That frees us up for at leat 25-40 hours a week! During that time I can shoot more, travel more, invest time with clients and other professionals. More time to learn and BE and think!

Until then, my breath of fresh air is on walks with Ray. Its our dream time. We stroll around the block, whipping up extravagant dreams parading on golden clouds. Its a time when I don't laugh at his dreams and he doesn't laugh at mine. The more we achieve together the more creative we'll have to be with new ideas. If you were to eavesdrop on one of these conversations, you would have a belly full of laughs!!

All I'm saying is that I know a lot less now, than when I started my own business, but one thing stays the same, keep it real. Because in the end, the more you know, the more you don't know. :-)

Working for Peanuts.

For the record, I'm peanutted out. No more peanuts! By that I mean, I just can't eat airline peanuts anymore. Blech!

Looking forward to a wedding in Laguna Beach this Friday the 13th! Also excited for an awesome reception in Salem, OR on Saturday. I'm racking up my frequent flying miles fo' shizzle!

Small request to brides & grooms this week: Can someone promise to call or email Ray while I'm gone? He gets lonely. He also gets lazy and attaches to the couch. I need to make sure he's consuming healthy foods and drinks while I'm gone. his email is : raymond_rosario@hotmail.com

Although we've seen a huge variety of weddings ranging from traditional to fashion-forward, I've never quite experienced a wedding like this one! I remember Liz explaining that the only thing she really cared about was her pictures from this special day. No show, no fluff, just beautiful simplicity ...

Shannon & James are a very cool, very fun & very elegant couple... They had a 100% urban e-session downtown Seattle earlier in the spring, between an urban e-session and country setting for their wedding, they covered all the great aspects of the NW!
