HAPPY 2007!!!!

We closed out 2006 with some comedy amongst ourselves downtown Carmel...Tory, Ashley (my lil sis), and the Momma visited CARMEL, CA (pronounced Kar-MELL) for window shopping and the "Carmel experience." Its really called "Carmel-by-the-Sea" but it was more like Carmel-by-the-GREEN. These people were very, very, VERY well off! The Greer gals hammed it up and unwound themselves among the stuffy storefronts...

I love this posh garden setting. So tranquil. Totally Zen.

I love these stars. Posted on a building for designers.

One of the local canines...adorable 4 month old English Bulldog puppy.

Practicing the "covergirl laugh."

Goofing off as always...

What is on my mind? Probably nothing. Vacation does that to you.

They make such a cute couple. Laughter is contagious.

Tory and Ash have a great relationship.
They're honest, open, and thinking about each other. Constantly.

The Carmel Mission is a beautiful sight! We caught great 4:20pm lighting.

Soft, diffused, perfect for portraits...

Love the terracotta pots and slightly unkempt garden. Serene.

Interesting graveyard with huge shells next to each tombstone. Also a large monument inside the mission.

Sunset blew us away. Gorgeous hues painted the sky, felt like we were in New Mexico...

Last shot of the day...photos for me are the great escape.

To all the lovely friends and clients who keep up with my blog, thank you for your support. Please drive safely and have a wonderful New Year's Celebration! HAPPY NEW YEAR! I'll leave with with a few words of humor

"To get the full flavor of life,
TAKE BIG BITES!"

As 2006 comes to a close...HOLY COW did it go by fast. Is it just me?! Like, just yesterday the leaves were turning to fall colors. Now, its a few hours until 2006 comes to a close. Its been a really exciting year meeting lots of new people and traveling to distant and foreign places! From Alaska to Florence and up to London...wow!

I've had SO much fun refreshing the spirit of artistic photography here in sunny Monterey. The landscapes are completely different from what I'm used to. My mom guided everyone along the 17 mile drive today, OH MY GOSH ITS AMAZING! I've fallen in love with the Cyprus trees that were once on the brink of extinction...thanks to peoples' love for them, Cyprus trees are no longer endangered. I unfortunately don't have a picture of them. Left the battery charging at home. :-(

Its hard to beat the Pacific NW, but this area is reallllly amazing!

~SUNNY CALIFORNIA~

Visiting family here in Cali has been such a thrill, its been at least 2 years since the last time my family was "ALL" together in one setting for more than a few hours! We walked the beaches of Monterey, roughhoused with the pups, sang Karaoke into the wee morning hours. It was SO MUCH FUN!!! Here's a few snaps, enjoy!!!

NEW FEATURES FOR 2007:
We have a lot of new photo products for 2007, I'm reeeally excited about them! Its a win-win situation! I could go on and on about the quality but come see for yourself! Next year we plan to host an open house for prospective and current clients to view our new albums & products. ALSO plan on attending the treasure trunk night; all of the past test prints for weddings & engagement sessions will be released (for free) and you can take home your images! [if your photos are in the trunk, we'll notify you by email prior to the open trunk night]
Here's an updated listed of booked dates for 2007, there are a lot of couples asking about my availability for next year, if you know someone interested please pass this on! I do not have a limit on the number of weddings I do each year because we have so many amazing wedding offers across the US, however, I do not plan to work every weekend of 2007, so, while we want to consistantly offer fresh ideas to each client I need to recharge my mind and spirit! Nobody wants to have a grumpy photographer. Not pretty. Please inquire whether your wedding date is available for booking if it is not listed on the calendar already! To see my wedding portfolio please visit: www.aprilgreer.com Also, you can view our calendar with shaded (booked dates) under the "Availability" section. Thanks everyone for great referrals this year, its been amazing! For being so new to Seattle, my business has exploded and expanded beyond what we could've dreamed! I hope the trend continues because its always a shock and awe situation when we receive great referrals, but its a blessing that people are so happy with their photographs and services received! We're very blessed to work with genuinely warm people and those willing to envision their wedding & portraits "outside the box." :-)

Galactus Hungers.

My boyfriend Ray is a comicbook fan. He's also a huge fan of Galactus. In the comic world Galactus is like the Schwarzenegger of characters. To survive and thrive Galactus consumes all the time. Similarly, Ray maintains his size by stuffing his face with protein 24-7. In fact, he begins each day with the phrase: GALACTUS HUNGERS!!

This translates to: I'm hungry, feed my mouth. Woman wake up and cook me breakfast. Get those pancakes in my belly!
I usually smile and humor him, although its no surprise, he still cracks me up after all this time. So, this evening my little 'Galactus' indulged in New York CUPCAKES from Bellevue Square. As if there was any stopping him.

This is the Cupcake before 'Galactus' hungered.

This is the cupcake afterwards. Note: the beautiful packaging is totally destroyed!!!

Guys are like good comics. Can't live without them, can't feed 'em enough.

UNIQUE & FUN, that's how I work. Wednesday Dec. 6 will be the busiest day I've had since Thanksgiving! Meetings, shooting, consults, and lots of other stuff, booked solid all day. SO, keep in touch and see you all Thursday!
All I have to say is: the more you watch TV, the more the competition will kick your buns.

One more thing: watched a hilarious commercial of a father reasonably exploiting his kid to do housework around christmastime. The father asks:
Who doesn't like a whiner? Santa. That's right!
I got such a kick out of that. Anyone born in the 80's KNOWS how it was back then. Parents can be SO cruel!

Sweetness!! mywedding.comThe good people from mwedding.com featured my pics in their sample brochure for advertising! The made up studio name is Hudson Greene Photography. Jennifer, the designer chick at mywedding.com asked quite a while back if it would be okay to use the pics to create an example of what photographers can expect when they advertise with mywedding.com. Of course it was okay! They were kind of enough to give me photo credits for each photo used! Awesome! The ad is listed in over 37 cities nationwide as the site continues to grow!!! Thanks Rob & Jen for props!
If you're a photographer out there reading this, definately invest in advertising with mywedding. It rocks. I also advertise in Denver, San Diego, Alaska, Portland, & LA and couldn't be happier with the great people it connects us with.

RUB A DUB-DUB! WE'RE IN THE TUB!

ERIN + RYAN August 11, 2007
They're doing a golf-themed wedding next year and unfortunately I don't know the slightest thing about GOLF. I was hit in the eye with a golf ball about 4 years ago while playing PUTT-PUTT (resulting in a fat shiner) and avoid the golf-types at all cost. :-)
We put our heads together for this shoot,I envisioned a historic look with little golf caps and old timers outfits. They just had to find the clothing and the location. Easy! Tumwater Valley Golf course was kind enough to allow us use of their greens and the costume expert had loads of ideas. About the duckies? No clue! Just one of those weird photographer things. It came to me in the middle of the night a while back. E+R weren't phased by the suds, the duckies, or the golf ideas. SWEET!
Can you believe these two lovebirds? They're fantastic, sweet, and hilarious!!!
Once we wrapped up the shoot, they spruced up and at 7pm guests piled in for a SASSY & CLASSY engagement party! Stuffed tummies and happy faces at the party are the result of Kim Kelly's world-class cooking and happy homemaking. I can't say I've enjoyed myself more so in a very, very long time! It was really fun!!! Erin popped the question to her best friends: Will you be my bridesmaids? She hand-colored each card to match the bridesmaids haircolor and statue. Isn't that SWEET? I barely have the wedding season closed out for 2006 and already I can't WAIT to start 2007!!
